Buckhurst Hill Bowls Club finals weekend saw 14 club competitions reach their conclusion.
In the Men’s Championship, Ray Ascott beat Ian Green 21-13 and in the Ladies’ Championship, Ros Pike beat Jacqueline Stevens 21-18.
Peter Barry beat Phil Joiners 21-20 in the final of the Men’s Junior Championships, whilst in the women’s competition; Gillian Meagher triumphed over Susan Everitt 21-14.
The President’s Cup (Mixed), Glenn Stevens beat Frank Dodsley 9-7, 9-4.
Meanwhile, in the Men’s Two-Wood Singles, Bernard Baker beat David Nathan 16-11. Malcolm Lord beat Glenn Stevens 101-99 in the Men’s Fixed Jack and Wendy Coldham beat Jacqueline Stevens 101-83 in the Ladies’ Fixed Jack.
Glenn Stevens overcame Bernard Baker 21-17 and Patricia Wilson bettered Enid Tomlinson by the same score in the Men’s and Ladies’ Handicap Singles.
In the Veterans’ Mixed Handicap, Dodsley beat Roy Davies 13-10. The Paddy Alan Handicap saw Mary Randall and Dodsley beat Everitt and David Powell 30-25.
Bryan Thorogood and Ray Tredgett beat Ian Green and Bob Welsh 25-16 in the Men’s and Ladies’ Handicap pairs, whilst Everitt and Tomlinson eased to victory against Madeleine Davis and Jadwiga Twardowska 34-15.
There were also awards for Welsh and Tomlinson, who were voted the most improved men’s and women’s players.
