Cardiff City caretakers Danny Gabbidon and Scott Young have confirmed they will take charge of the side for Saturday’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday after meeting Slade on Thursday.
The pair faced the media ahead of the Bluebirds’ home clash with the Owls tomorrow and confirmed they had briefly met the former Leyton Orient manager.
Said Young: “Our talk with Russell Slade. It was literally hello, good to meet you. Sorry, but we have to go out training.”
Gabbidon added: “We will see what happens. Our remit is to take the game tomorrow and see what happens then.”
With Gabbidon and Young taking charge of first-team affairs at the Cardiff City Stadium, it is expected Slade will watch from the director’s box at the ground, with negotiations between Orient’s lawyers and Cardiff ongoing.
The 53-year-old tendered his resignation on Wednesday evening, and although the O’s have yet to announce it has been accepted, Kevin Nugent – Slade’s assistant – has been put in charge for Saturday’s visit from Rochdale.
