Essex racing driver Lochlan Bearman leads the Mini Max Stars at Whilton Mill Kart Championship by 71 points ahead of the final round of the competition next month.

At the tenth and penultimate round of the Championship last weekend, the Theydon Boisss driver finished fourth in the final of the event.

In the first heat, Bearman started on pole but slipped down three places and crossed the line in fourth position.

That result meant he began the second heat well down the grid in 27th place. However, a fine start saw him jump up to 15th by the end of lap two.

Bearman continued to move through the field as the heat progressed and he eventually finished in tenth.

The third heat saw him begin in 13th spot on the starting grid. He managed to steer past the majority of his competitors to cross the line in third.

Bearman’s combined heat results put him on pole for the final. He had started well before being clipped in the second lap which dropped him down to seventh.

He was able to recover and moved into fourth spot but rival Kieran Wragg was able to slip through and take second to narrow Bearman’s advantage in the championship.
