Leyton Orient Advanced Soccer Schools (LOASS) Under-12 girls have reached the AFA London County Cup final after crushing Alexandra Palace Youth 6-2 on Saturday.

It was Alexandra Palace who struck the first blow, taking advantage of hesitancy in the LOASS defence to open the scoring with a clever through ball and finish.

LOASS, to their credit, wasted no time in drawing level. Winger Evie Johnston was the scorer, shimmying beyond several Alexandra Palace defenders and tucking home at the near post.

The hosts responded with similar urgency and re-took the lead with a carbon copy of the first goal to go 2-1 ahead.

Not to be put off their passing football, LOASS pulled level once more when a neat move which involved Eve Pearson and forward Elisabeth Santiago was finished off by the latter with a rasping low shot.

Coach Joe Sheehan made a tactical alteration at half time, changing to a back three, and the decision paid off when good work from Brogan Cass Jeffers and Josie Burke enabled Santiago to snatch her second and put LOASS in front for the first time.

Once ahead, LOASS refused to surrender the lead and further efforts from Jessica Benning and Jeffers Cass underlined their superiority to make it 5-2 in the east Londoners' favour.

Santiago then completed her hat-trick to cap an impressive win and ensure LOASS will now take on Queens Park Rangers in their quest for silverware, after the Hoops beat Tottenham Hotspur on penalties.

Speaking afterwards, head coach Sheehan said: "The girls have worked hard for this chance at silverware and like any final it is anyone's game but the preparation will be as it always is for any game. I will expect 100 per cent dedication from my players and I know they will deliver the commitment required.

"If we move the ball quickly and fluidly we can give ourselves a chance. As in any game of football, if you create the chance you must ensure you convert into a positive outcome."

The date for the final is yet to be decided.
