Swansea City boss Garry Monk has dismissed speculation linking him with the West Ham United job, stating the Hammers already have an excellent manager in Sam Allardyce.

The 36-year-old has guided the Swans to record-equalling total of 47 Premier League points this season and with six games remaining, they look set to exceed that tally.

Current Hammers boss Allardyce is out of contract at the end of the season and Monk has been touted as a potential replacement.

However, the former Swansea defender - who succeeded Michael Laudrup last season - has moved quickly to put an end to speculation linking him with the job.

He said: "West Ham have a fantastic manager in place.

"For them to be looking elsewhere - if they are - I think they've already got the manager there who's had a fantastic season.

"I look at that type of speculation as a compliment to the way myself and the team have worked this season, showing we're progressing and going in the right direction."

Allardyce's position in the Upton Park hot-seat has come under increasing scrutiny after failing to build on an excellent start.

The Hammers were as high as third at one stage but have slipped away and now sit ninth - four points and a place behind the south Wales club.
