Leyton Orient players are "not really training", the Guardian Series has learned, after being told to continue training after the season ended.

A miserable campaign for the O's shows no signs of abating after a source confirmed players were expected to come into training from Monday until Thursday despite the season ending on Sunday, May 3. Manager Fabio Liverani was in attendance.

The O's were relegated to League Two under manager Fabio Liverani following their 2-2 final day draw at Swindon Town and have since remained in training.

However, a source told the Guardian Series arrival and departure times are flexible and it is only training in the loosest sense, with players spending time in the gym or playing head tennis.

It is common practice at professional football clubs for training to finish for the season after the final game of the season with meetings to discuss players' futures the main order of business before teams depart for their summer break.

But attacker Shaun Batt took to Twitter yesterday (Monday) to express his discontent at being summoned into training, despite the fact the 2014/15 campaign came to a close for the O's over a week ago.

Defender Mathieu Baudry also tweeted last to reveal his disatisfaction at being require to train with the new season almost three months away.
