Fourth XI Premier Division

Buckhurst Hill Fourths were left ruing their decision not to declare earlier after drawing with Belhus, that despite scoring nearly three times as many runs.

Having stood down after reaching 218 for nine, Belhus then ground out a draw by reaching just 70 for six.

Chingford Fourths endured a disastrous afternoon with the bat as they were defeated by 130 runs at Harlow Fourths.

Harlow declared on 205 for nine before accounting for Chingford for a paltry 75 after just 29.4 overs of their reply.

Fourth XI Division One

Paran Kalley’s excellent ton was not enough to help Oakfield Parkonians Thirds get the better of Wanstead & Snaresbrook Sixths in a draw.

Kalley’s unbeaten 108 was built upon by Gurmit Bhatia (48) as Parks declared on 251 for six.

But they could not finish off Wanstead, who closed on 172 for six thanks to Chris Ley’s knock of 49 not out.

Fourth XI Division Three

A disastrous batting display cost Oakfield Parkonians Fourths as they lost by nine wickets at home to Walthamstow Fourths.

Parks made just 86 for nine; Shahid Khan (29) and Vijay Vijayanathan (18) the only players to reach double figures.

It took just 19.4 overs for Walthamstow to seal victory, racing to 88 without losing a wicket.

Nine-man Fives & Heronians Fourths were unsurprisingly picked off by Basildon & Pitsea Thirds as they lost by 144 runs.

Declaring after putting up an intimidating total of 236 for six, Fives were then promptly removed for 92 in response.

ECB National Club Championship Group 14

Wanstead & Snaresbrook exited at the second round stage after a 74-run defeat at Hornchurch on Sunday, despite an improved showing with the bat from 24 hours earlier.

Hornchurch elected to bat first and built strongly, with opener Paul Murray making 35 from 32 deliveries and Billy Gordon hitting 89 at number three.

However, the run-rate slowed and although Roy Smith made an unbeaten 42, the hosts closed on 278 for six.

Akram (15) and Mahesh Velani (4) went cheaply in reply for Wanstead before Hassan Chowdhury (66) went some way to steadying the ship.

Ellis-Grewal (54) offered late resistance but the combination of Marc Whitlock (three for 44) and Taqi Abbas (four for 48) saw the visitors removed for 204.

Chingford came unstuck at the second hurdle as they were undone by a double hundred from Finchley’s Niraj Jadav.

Put into bat by their hosts, Finchley were scoring steadily before Jadav came to the crease and smashed his way to an unbeaten 200 from 125 balls, which included 27 fours and six sixes.

Chasing 356 for three, Chingford were always up against it but 105 from opener Ben MacGregor provided cause for optimism.

What followed did not though, as Andrew MacGregor (31) and Chris Baldock (31) provided the only other scores of note in a limp innings which ended on 232 for nine, 124 short of the required total.
