West Ham United are to step up their hunt for Queens Park Rangers' Charlie Austin according to the Daily Mail.

Austin, 26, has been a player in high demand already this summer with a number of Premier League club - including Newcastle United and Leicester City linked with the England man.

However, the Hammers could be in a good position to sign the striker as Austin has stated he would like to stay in London.

QPR have put a £15 million valuation on the former Burnley striker's head but West Ham are hoping to use a player plus cash to deal to secure the striker.

Kevin Nolan and Matt Jarvis are two players West Ham are expected to use as part of the deal to sign the Hungerford-born hitman.

Rangers had been interested in signing Jarvis but a loan deal fell through as they could not sign a second player on loan from the Hammers under the Premier League's loan regulations.

Austin scored 18 goals last season for QPR last season and gained his first England call up in May but did not feature in either game against the Republic of Ireland or Slovenia.
