West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing Manchester City striker Devante Cole after he impressed on trial with the Hammers.

The 20-year-old, who is the son of former Manchester United striker Andy, is on trial at Upton Park and West Ham academy manager Terry Westley has confirmed the club's interest in the young forward.

"He is someone we will look at seriously. We think we are short in those forward positions," said Westley.

"Unfortunately tonight it was difficult for a front player, because you are asking them to pick up their deepest midfield player and he did not get a lot of the ball.

"But he showed flashes that he is dangerous in behind, and we know of him obviously because it is part of our job to know the talented young players around.”

Cole currently plays for Manchester City and had loan spells at Barnsley and MK Dons in League One last season.

Any deal for the striker would involve a compensation package due to his age.
