In the penultimate match of the Redbridge Ladies Summer League, it was Wapping ladies’ A that came out on top against East London, sealing a 3-1 victory.

The result secured the silver medal spot in their division.

Wapping opened the scoring when midfielder Lotta Paulus set up Alison Chadwick, who scored with a fine aerial shot.

However, the ladies were not on top for long, as East London equalised shortly afterwards. But Wapping were not fazed as they went back in front before half-time thanks to two efforts from Ella van den Brink.

The forward netted her first after great play from Chrissie Eckhart, which left her with the simple task of converting the well-placed cross.

Van den Brink’s second was to follow shortly after, scoring after a superbly-worked penalty corner.

Despite retaining possession for large parts of the second half, Wapping could not add to their 3-1 advantage, but they were kept on their toes by East London, who always looked dangerous on the counter attack.

Elsewhere, Wapping’s men’s A were held in a thrilling match with Waltham Forest B, with the game finishing 3-3.
