Leyton Orient have pulled off a surprise transfer coup after signing Burnley goalkeeper Alex Cisak on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The Polish-born Australian spent the last three months on loan at Brisbane Road last season and was a big hit despite the club's relegation.

Cisak made 19 appearances for the O's and was widely considered one of their best performers during the run-in.

The 26-year-old kept five clean sheets for the club during his spell in the side last season. His return is likely to be very popular with supporters after an impressive contribution for the O's.

Orient have been looking for a new goalkeeper this summer and Cisak is expected to become the club's number one this season with Gary Woods and youngster Charlie Grainger also part of the squad.

It completes a busy day of transfer activity after the O's also announced the signings of defenders Alan Dunne, Frazer Shaw and Connor Essam this afternoon.

Head coach Ian Hendon told the club website: "He was a fans' favourite last season from this time at the club and let's hope it stays that way

"He is very talented and I think Orient fans have seen that first hand. I have seen him play and know of him.  I haven't worked with him, but I know Sean Dyche at Burnley quite well and he speaks very highly of him. We know what Alex is about and Kevin (Nugent) worked with him last year and said if it is a possibility to get him in it is a no-brainer so we have done a deal.

"I am looking forward to having him and the other three new players on board and getting ready for the season."
