West Ham United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of a new striker after an offer was turned down for Galatasaray's Burak Yilmaz.
The Turkish international has been linked with a switch to Upton Park after scoring 57 goals in 83 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig
Galatasary have released a statement on their website which confirms they had rejected an approach from the Hammers for their star striker.
“West Ham United offered us €5million (£3.5m) for Burak Yilmaz," it read.
“But our player didn't demand to leave and also our club has no thought of selling him.”
West Ham remain in the hunt for a striker as a result of injuries to Enner Valencia and Andy Carroll and will seemingly have to look elsewhere.
The Hammers have also been being linked with moves to sign Queens Park Rangers forward Charlie Austin, as well as Tottenham Hotspur's Emmanuel Adebayor.
However, a move for the Togo international has reportedly fallen through due to wage demands which are understood to be in excess of £100,000-a-week.
