Leyton Orient have signed Liverpool defender Joe Maguire on an initial one-month loan.
The move comes on the same day the O's confirmed defender Shane Lowry has exercised his release clause and left the club.
Maguire, 19, has been a regular for Liverpool's Under-21 side and was part of Brendan Rodgers' squad which toured Thailand, Australia and Malaysia this summer.
Head coach Ian Hendon told the club website: "I know Alex Inglethorpe (Liverpool Academy Director) very well and we have seen him on a few occasions and heard a lot of good things about him.
“It is a good opportunity for Joe to come and sample what League Two football is all about. We have heard a lot of good things about him and we are happy to bring him in and bolster our squad.
“He can play anywhere down the left hand side, but is predominantly a left back. He is coming here to fight for a place and he is up for the challenge so that shows what type of character he is.”
Lowry has left Orient after just over one season at Brisbane Road. His move from Millwall did not work out and he struggled to impress last season making 40 appearances.
He activated a release clause following the O's relegation and his exit was confirmed today with Birmingham City and Wigan both linked with the 26-year-old.
