Leyton Orient have been forced to stay in a hotel this week as the pressure grows on head coach Ian Hendon.
The O’s were beaten 3-1 at struggling Hartlepool United to leave the side with just two wins from their last 12 League Two matches.
Owner Francesco Becchetti ordered the team to stay at the Waltham Abbey Marriott Hotel this week as punishment for their defeat.
This bizarre move underlines the increasing pressure on Hendon and it is believed the O’s manager’s job could be under threat if results do not turn around swiftly.
Speaking after Sunday’s loss at Hartlepool, Hendon said: “At the end of the day it is all about the results.
“The bottom line is we lost 3-1 and I get judged on results not performances so results have got to pick up and quickly.
“We have got a lot of disappointed players, along with the manager and staff in that dressing room.”
Hendon is desperate to add to his squad before the York City match on Saturday although he has been frustrated in his efforts to sign players so far.
He said: “We lost Coxy in the week and weren’t able to fill the bench so it is majorly important that we get some players in and add quality. This is not through a lack of trying.”
Jobi McAnuff has not featured at all this season and instead trains with the youth team at the discretion of the owner.
It is understood attempts have been made to see if the former Reading and Watford midfielder could return to the fold in the wake of their injury problems but there is still no suggestion McAnuff will play for the club again.
