Wadham Lodge overcame a stubborn Southend Manor side 3-0 on Saturday to record their third home win in seven days.

Second half goals from Charlie Georgiou, Tommy Carroll and Andrea Mantovani ensured the points, taking Lodge to third in the Essex Senior League.

Victory completed a productive seven days for Tony Ievoli's side, who followed up the previous Saturday's 4-0 defeat of Tower Hamlets with a dramatic 2-1 win against East London rivals Clapton on Wednesday.

Clapton took the lead before two Nathan Mukuna penalties completed a dramatic turnaround in the dying minutes.

Delighted coach Neil Day said: "It's no secret Clapton have amazing support but we have slowly but surely picked up some followers of our own this season.

"I think even the Clapton fans were surprised how noisy they were in the second half when the team needed a 12th man.

"A few of the players said how it lifted them and there's some great footage on the internet which will hopefully spread the word about what is happening here."

He added: "All season Tony and myself have spoken about is consolidation. We weren't too sure what that translated to as a points tally but arguably we've now reached our minimum expectation (36 points) and can only take things game by game to add to that."

Wadham visit Sporting Bengal United on Wednesday.
