Dimitri Payet was once again on the scoresheet for France, who progressed to the knockout stage of Euro 2016 with a 2-0 victory over Albania last night.

The West Ham midfielder played the full 90 minutes for Les Bleues and was once again influential during their victory.

France found it difficult to break down a stubborn Albania defence, with Paul Pogba volleying over the hosts' best chance in the second half, following a delicious cross from Payet with the outside of his boot.

Moments before that, a cross into the box from Albania rebounded off Bacary Sagna and hit the post.

After Olivier Giroud’s header hit the upright, it looked like the Albanians were going to hold on for a draw, until the hosts took the lead in the 89th minute.

Substitute Antoine Griezmann nodded the ball home from Adil Rami’s deep cross, before Payet added a second with the last kick of the game.

The West Ham midfielder collected the ball on the edge of the box and advanced forward, before cutting inside and delightfully curling the ball home.

France’s last group game takes place on Sunday, when they take on Switzerland in Lille at 8pm.
