Dimitri Payet’s agent has held talks with Real Madrid as the Blancos have been linked with a summer bid for the French midfielder.

According to the Daily Express, Madrid are keen on the West Ham United player following his debut season at Upton Park.

The 29-year-old has impressed thus far for France at Euro 2016, netting two in three games, which has raised discussions about his future.

Payet, who finished as the Hammers top scorer last season, was tied down to a new contract in February until 2021.

The club are said to have put a £60m price-tag on Payet to fend off any interest from Europe's biggest clubs.

But, the midfielder stated he does not see himself leaving West Ham ahead of next season and he told the Evening Standard the club has helped him improve his game due to the level of competition in England.

“The level of the premier league has helped me to get closer to international level,” he said.

“When you play in England there are no easy games, it’s a very physical league, sometimes pushing you to the limit.

“Every two weeks you play against a top European club, you have to be at the top level to compete.”
