Leyton Orient have announced veteran midfielder and former manager Kevin Nolan has left the club with "immediate effect".

The 34-year-old will "pursue opportunities elsewhere", the club said in a two-paragraph statement, having agreed his departure earlier today.

The statement in full read: "The club wishes to announce that midfielder Kevin Nolan has left with immediate effect to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

"We wish him the best of luck and thank him for his efforts during his time with the club."

Nolan was named player-manager of Orient in January, replacing Ian Hendon, and led them to seven wins from his 15 games in charge.

He stood down from managerial duties in April with the O's two points from the play-offs, but remained on the playing staff as they finished the season in eighth place.

The midfielder, who spent the majority of his career in the Premier League with West Ham, Newcastle and Bolton, is yet to announce his next move.
