Andy Hessenthaler is prepared for a tough game against Grimsby as they travel to Blundell Park on Saturday, August 20.

Orient won their first game of the season 3-0 against Stevenage on Tuesday night at Brisbane Road.

A double from Gavin Massey and a Dean Cox header was enough to seal the three points although it was Stevenage who got off to the better start.

“It is tough place to go as they have just got promoted and I have played there myself, I have been there, said Hessenthaler.

“It is a tight ground but a nice pitch and there will be a good atmosphere up there and it is a long journey.

“So we have to make sure we go up there and we get another result.

Nigel Atangana is a major doubt for the match as he suffered an impact injury early on in the game as Fraser Franks was booked for the rash challenge.

However, the 51-year-old is hoping Jay Simpson will stay at the club as he provided a much needed boost to the O’s fans.

He added: “He gives everybody a lift, I don’t like this window when it is like this, and for me I think when the season starts it should shut.

“You have got your players, you have got your squad, there shouldn’t be a month where it is still open, and I think it turns player’s heads.

“I think people get disrupted and that can happen at most clubs so for me I think the window should be shut.

“Once that first ball is kicked for the season it should be closed.”

Hessenthaler asked his side to respond from the 1-0 defeat to Newport and will look to get more players scoring compared to last season.

“It is great Gavin scored two, we don’t want to keep relying on our centre forwards to score.

“The same happened last year, we lost Cox and we lost Paul McCallum and we relied a lot on Jay.

“We need to share the goals around and that is three from Gavin now so that is pleasing for us.”
