WANSTEAD Fusion have decided to bring a little bit of Rio 2016 to the borough in a netball Olympic themed rally this weekend.

The event, which will take place on Saturday, September 3, will be held at Wanstead Sports Centre and will begin at 10am and finish at 4pm.

The team, who are undecided over whether they will stick with their new team name, are looking to raise funds to develop the team further and provide a transitional bridge from back to netball to intermediate.

The hope by hosting the event more people will get involved as netball has been overlooked as an Olympic sport.

Entry costs £35 per team with a max of 10 players in each and first, second and third place will receive a gold, silver or bronze medal.

The club will also be donating some of the proceeds to haven house Children’s Hospice.

Fusion currently train on a Tuesday evening from 7-8pm at the sports centre and also on a Wednesday morning, their head coach runs a session at Redbridge Sports Centre from 9:30am-10:30am.
