Leyton Orient won 2-1 against Morecambe FC at the Globe Arena as they continued their unbeaten away form in the Sky Bet League Two.

Goals from Liam Kelly and Jordan Bowery was enough to seal another three points on the road as the O’s move up to seventh in the table.

Kevin Ellison did equalise for the home side but it was not enough as they succumbed to their second defeat of the season.

O’s boss Andy Hessenthaler made some great chances from Tuesday night as Callum Kennedy kept his place at left-back and showed his worth.

Orient had the first chance of the game as captain Robbie Weir picked out a great tackle and Bowery plays it back to the skipper before the latter cannot be found in the box as Weirs pass goes out for a goal kick.

Morecambe got their chance a few minutes later as Cole Stockton linked up well with Andrew Fleming before the former skiffed his shot wide of the post after he turned in the O’s box.

Stockton made a wonderful ball to Ellison in the 19th minute and is one-on-one with Alex Cisak after he went past Yvan Erichot but the Aussie parried the ball away before Nicky Hunt made a vital clearance.

On the 25th minute there was a stop in pay as Tom Barkhuizen received treatment for a head injury as Orient failed to get out the blocks in the first half an hour.

But the O’s found their rhythm and in the 28th minute Kelly shot the O’s up in front after he controls the ball and curls it into the corner, with the Shrimps fans feeling Barry Roche should have done better.

Orient kept showing their fine away form as Harry Cornick played in Kelly once again and he volleyed over the crossbar.

Morecambe came close to equalising in the 38th minute but Tom Parkes defended well to fend off a dangerous Stockton cross.

A minute later, Gavin Massey got down the pitch well before he curled his shot wide of the post.

Hunt then made a vital tackle after Jack Dunn does well to get down the pitch but is unable to find a way through for the equaliser.

But Morecambe did find their equaliser in the 49th minute as Ellison hit a sensational strike from 25-yards after Orient claimed Parkes was fouled but referee John Brooks waved it off.

Bowery made sure that it did not stay level for long as six minutes later he got his first goal for the club after it took a deflection and went past the diving Roche.

Paul McCallum could have made it 3-1 after he came sliding in from a Cornick pass but Roche made the save and the ball went out for a corner.

Morecambe tried to find another equaliser as Rose striked from 30 yards but it went over the top of the crossbar and was then booked for a late tackle on Kelly.

But the O’s kept pressing and had a double chance to double their lead as Parkes got the ball on the halfway line and passed out to Kennedy whose cross is met by the former but his shot is saved before McCallum heads over.

Orient kept creating chance after chance and in the 72nd minute Weir knocked the ball down to McCallum who found Bowery in a tight angle and Roche was able to save.

Erichot almost scored his first goal for the club after he headed at the near post but Roche got down quickly to make the save.

The O’s held on for the win and the players went over to the away fans to show their appreciation after a tough week of news at the east London club.
