After suffering a quadricep injury on the opening day of the season West Ham United’s summer signing Andre Ayew has returned to training.

The former Swansea man joined first team training on Monday and the club’s head of medical and Sports Science Stijn Vandenbroucke says he is slowly returning to full fitness.

There is more good news on the injury front for the Hammers with Diafra Sakho set to start controlled training sessions with the under-23s on Monday.

Arthur Masuaku is further away from making a return from the knee injury he picked up against Accrington Stanley in August, but has started light training and running.

Andy Carroll’s prognosis is less positive and his recovery from a knee complaint is taking longer than expected to heel.

Despite being expected to be out for six weeks from the start of the season, Slaven Bilic confirmed the striker is still no closer to a return.

Sam Byram and Gokham Tore are both making progress in their recoveries from respective Hamstring and quadricep injuries.

Byram is still on crutches after having surgery on his injury and is not expected to return to the active stage of his rehabilitation for two weeks.

Finally Darren Randolph returned from international duty with the Republic of Ireland with a minor knee injury and will be back in training by the end of the week.
