The East London Guardian Series understands Leyton Orient have relieved Alberto Cavasin of his role at the club, ending his two-month spell as the O’s boss.

His departure comes after last night’s 1-0 defeat against Exeter City, who went into the game bottom of the table.

It also marked the Italian’s eighth defeat in 10 matches at the E10 club. His biggest defeat came in the FA Cup when they lost 6-0 to Sheffield United, their largest margin of defeat for 34 years.

Speaking to the Guardian last night, Cavasin looked like a defeated man and was unsure how he could get Orient out of their relegation battle.

“Certainly yes. There can be many others even better than me but now I am here so I believe I can do it,” responded the Italian.

“There is Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and many others, I am not saying I am the best but I can save it.

“It is not the higher or lower position than we are now on the table that can create more fear or anxiety.

“We have to present ourselves to this match with a helmet, a knife and our teeth. We have to maximise our productivity and capability.”

It is believed assistant manager Andy Edwards will take over, at least in the interim.

This is the eighth manager to have left the club in the two years that Francesco Becchetti has been in charge.

He is the fourth manager to have been at the helm in 11 months during this year alone.

Ian Hendon, Kevin Nolan and Andy Hessenthaler all parted ways with thew O's earlier in the year.

Hendon was given two years on his contract but only survived seven months and often spoke about interference from up above.

Nolan also spoke out about how the board would turn up at training unannounced.

More to follow.
