West Ham United are reportedly interested in bringing Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi in on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Hammers attempted to sign the 23-year-old on a permanent deal from Marseille in the summer, only to see their £31m bid bettered by their London rivals as they offered £33m.

However, the Belgian has struggled to make an impression at Stamford Bridge, has made just 14 appearances to date and is yet to start a Premier League game.

Diego Costa’s resurgent form this season, which has seen him score 17 times in 24 matches, means it is unlikely Batshuayi will be able to force himself into Antonio Conte’s starting XI.

The Hammers are likely to face competition for his signature from Premier League strugglers Swansea City.

Chelsea are said to be keen on signing Swans striker Fernando Llorente as cover for Costa and any deal could be subject to Batshuayi going the other way.

West Ham’s interest in Batshuayi is the latest development in their ongoing efforts to sign a striker, which has seen them have bids rejected for Jermain Defoe and Scott Hogan already in the January window.
