West Ham United and Marseille have reportedly failed to reach an agreement for the transfer of Dimitri Payet.
Various national reports claim Marseille president, Jacques-Henri Eyraud and Andoni Zubizaretta could not strike a deal for the playmaker during talks in London today.
The Ligue1 side are said to have had a second bid of around £20m, which is just £1m more than their initial offer, rejected.
United price the 29-year-old at closer to £30m and are happy to hold out until their valuation is met.
Payet informed West Ham manager Slaven Bilic he did not want to play for the club last week and has since been omitted from all first team activity.
Bilic is adamant Payet will not be allowed to leave the club during the January window, a view which is shared by David Sullivan, David Gold and Karen Brady.
West Ham’s stance leaves Payet in a difficult situation and he faces a testing few months should a deal not materialise before the window closes.
West Ham are also thought to be stalling on completing a deal for Brentford’s Scott Hogan until Payet’s future is resolved.
They have identified the forward, who has 14 goals to his name this season, as one of their key targets for the window as they look to boost their goalscoring options.
