Leyton Orient's staff and players have still not been paid their wages for March, as a third self-imposed deadline passed without the situation being resolved.

The club's employees have been waiting since March 31 for payment of their wages for the previous month, and were later promised they would be paid on March 7.

But nearly two weeks into April they are still awaiting their salaries, despite further assurances the issue would be settled today.

Last week it was revealed the O's players had little expectation of a resolution in the near future - and there is, as yet, no sign of when it will.

The non-payment marks the latest in a long line of off-field problems at the club this season, including the adjourment of a winding-up petition in the High Court, a chaotic transfer policy and five managers since the start of the campaign.

Their relegation could also be confirmed as soon as this weekend, as victories for Cheltenham and Hartlepool, coupled with an Orient defeat at Luton on Friday, would seal a spell in the National League next year following a dismal season.
