Leyton Orient Women will be aiming to add another gong to their trophy cabinet this Sunday when they take on Crawley Wasps in the London & South East Regional Women’s Football League Cup Final.

The South East Premier Division champions warmed up the final in fine style with an emphatic 8-0 win over Fulham Foundation at Brisbane Road on Sunday in front of 300 of the O’s faithful.

Ella Meadowcroft led the rout with a hat-trick, top goalscorer Sophie Le Marchand bagged a brace and there was one apiece from Francesca Cagetti, Connie Montiel-McCann and Jasmine Campbell.

Manager Chris Bayford said afterwards: “The support from the crowd at Brisbane Road was fantastic and the quality of the surface suited us, I think. The players put on a fine show, particularly with some very nicely-worked goals.

“It was great to finish off the league season in style but obviously we are very focused on winning next week’s league cup final and making it an even more memorable end to the year.”

The game was a special moment for the ladies to play at the club’s home ground in Leyton but captain Danielle Griffiths said their focus is now on Sunday.

“The girls all put in performances to suit the occasion, with goal scorers coming from across the pitch, and I am extremely proud of the way we played as a team, as we have done all season,” she said.

“We would like to thank all at Leyton Orient who enabled us to stage our last league game of the season at the ground to end a successful league campaign.

“On Sunday, we play in the league cup final hoping to win our third trophy to cap off a brilliant season.”

Hat-trick hero Meadowcroft admitted playing at the O’s stadium capped off their memorable league season.

She said:”Playing at Brisbane Road was such a great experience for us as a team and highlights what an amazing title-winning season we have had.

“We are so grateful to the hundreds of supporters that came out to cheer us on, they really encouraged us to get the win and put on a strong showcase for our final league game.

“On a personal level, to score a hat-trick at the Orient stadium in front of so many fans was an incredible feeling and one I won’t forget anytime soon.”

Sunday’s match against Crawley is set to take place at Maidstone’s Gallagher Stadium with a 2pm kick-off.
