Woodford Rugby club are set to host a touring side from Romania on Saturday.

Focsani RFC are making the return visit to Britain after Woodford completed a successful tour of their country last year.

There will be more than 100 visiting tourists travelling from Romania, France and Italy.

Paul Yates, who use to play for the club and will be donning his boots for 20 minutes on Saturday, has taken to organising the event.

When asked how important it is to organise these types of trips, he said: “It is amazingly important. The Woodford fifth team have done this for the 12th year running. We do lots of trips to other clubs but they tend to not come back so it is very important that we welcome other teams to our club.”

The match will kick off at 2pm, all are welcome and an end of season party will begin at 7pm.

Yates said: “ We are hoping the event will help push the club.

“We are losing a team next year, as I think are many clubs, so we are hoping a lot of people will attend so we can push the sport over football.”
