Also in action was Kingsley Annor, who raced in the Under-17 200m and 400m. He completed the events in 25.03 secs and 56.19 secs respectively.

In Sheffield, several of Woodford's senior athletes were getting competitive preparation in the McCain Indoor City Challenge.

With the UK Indoor Championships and World Indoor Trials a week away, Sarah Claxton will be pleased with her second place in the 60m hurdles, finishing second to Jessica Ennis in a time of 8.29 secs.

Oli Heeks raced over 1500m and was sixth with 3 mins 57.19 secs.

On Saturday and Sunday the Birmingham Indoor Games were held at the National Indoor Arena.
