Pupils from a Chigwell school are celebrating after reaching the latter stages of the Essex County Individual Championships table tennis tournament.
West Hatch High School entered 11 youngsters at Under-16 and Under-19 level in the event which took place at BATTS Table Tennis Club, Harlow.
In the Under-16s, competition James Beswick, Nathan Bramwell and Vishal Dubb progressed through their league group and into the knockout stages. Dubb made it furthest, reaching the quarter-finals.
In the Under-19s category, Year 11 pupils Billy Sabine and Bobby Eavy progressed through the group stages. They continued their good run all the way until the semi-finals but were unable to make it further after coming up against opponents who were county and nationally ranked.
PE teacher Casca Hoy said: "Students have worked hard in training, dedicating time and effort to improve their table tennis skills over the past two years. They all deserve praise for the way they conducted themselves on the day."
