Steven Caulker, Andros Townsend, Adam Smith and Danny Rose have all received call ups to the England Under-21 squad.

Manager Stuart Pearce has named a 26-man squad for his team's Euro 2012 play-off double header against Serbia next week as the young Lions look to qualify for their fourth successive finals.

The call up is a first for midfielder Andros Townsend who has impressed in his four appearances this season, most notably against Carlisle last week when he scored a sensational solo goal.

Caulker has made four starts this term, securing his place in the team in the absence of Younes Kaboul and drawing praise from captain William Gallas.

"I'm sure he'll be one of the best defenders in England," Gallas told the Daily Star this week.

"He is focused. He is not afraid to play football or to go forward and that is fantastic for him."

Smith played right-back in Tottenham's 3-0 win over Carlisle in the Capital One Cup last week and played well in the absence of Kyle Walker.

Rose is currently on loan at Sunderland where he has made three appearances so far.

England Under-21s play their home leg of the Euro 2013 play-off in Norwich on Friday 12 October, kick off at 6pm.

The second leg takes place on Tuesday 16 October, kick off at 5pm.
