It’s all happening at the Walthamstow Garden Party with music from Brand New Heavies and Tiken Jah Fakoly, theatre dance, art and foodie events

A two-day extravaganza of music, art, theatre and dance is set to take place as Walthamstow Garden Party kicks off. Showcasing international and local artists including soul pioneers Brand New Heavies and Ivory Coast’s reggae powerhouse Tiken Jah Fakoly, there will be a theatre and dance stage, pop-up performances and interactive fun taking place across the park. Enjoy refreshments from the Real Food Festival before taking time to browse the Useful and Beautiful Craft Marquee and E17 Designers Market showcasing local designs.

1. After the sudden death of legend Bobby Womack, soul funk pioneers Brand New Heavies have stepped in to perform on Saturday. Tiken Jah Fakoly headlines on Sunday, but you've already pencilled that into the diary, right? Same with The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, right??

2. Walthamstow Acoustic Massive, an umbrella for acoustic music groups (banjo, ukulele, violin) with students from 18 to 80, will take to the Barbican Music Stage on Saturday. Massive!

3. At least 20 local designers, artists and craftspeople will be selling their wares as E17 Designers set up their stalls over the two-day festival.

4. On both days, the Leyton-based Gravity Circus Centre will be presenting a variety of thrilling acts – prepare to be dazzled.

5. Professional dancers and choreographers will create an al fresco daytime disco for Soul Picnic, nurturing dancefloor duelling and high end moves and grooves. Music will be a blend of disco, funk, ‘80s boogie, rare groove, house and more on Saturday.car
