With schools closed for the summer, if you’ve run out of ideas for what to do with the children over the break, here are some of the best family events taking place locally.
Arts and Science Festival
The Royal Gunpowder Mills is pulling out all the stops with a thrilling programme of science and arts based activities. There are Secret Monday Missions, where kids can train to become a fully fledged Secret Island Agent. It’s all about rockets on Rocket Trials Wednesday, and there’s Creative Thursday, where visitors can learn everything from T-shirt printing to how to create Viking-inspired jewellery.

All About Bees
As part of Love Parks Week, find out about all the different bees buzzing in the park. Take part in a walk spotting different types of bees, then return to the community room for some bee art.

Bricks and Tricks: Castlemania

Pirates Week
Ahoy there me hearties! Get ready for a swashbuckling adventure at Marsh Farm. With magic shows, an inflatable pirate galleon, pesky pets and a treasure trail, ensure you come dressed in pirate gear to get your share of the booty.
