Anyone for polo?

Now that a month of World Cup football is at an end, why not take the time to discover a whole new ball game? This weekend, Gaynes Park Estate in Epping will host the Duke of Essex Polo Trophy.

Played between teams from Great Britain and South America, it is sure to be a fast-moving encounter as some of the world’s best players gallop at breakneck speeds, aiming to outscore each other.

But the day won’t only be about world class polo, there’s also a family fun day, with a funfair, skydiving display, showjumping, a Lancaster bomber fly-past, and the Metropolitan Police horse display team performance. Live music will be provided by The Real Thing, Rose Royce, Rozalla and Britain’s Got Talent winners Diversity.

The event takes place on Saturday, July 17, from 11.30am, at Gaynes Park Estate, Epping. Tickets: 01992 563433, www.essexploocup.com
