WE ARRIVED at Wo-Fat at 9pm on a busy Saturday night without booking a table. When we went inside it was packed full of people clearly having a great time, even the waiting area for takeaways was full.
We asked if they had a table for two expecting to be turned away but we were given a very warm welcome and were shown to a table within five minutes.
I would however recommend booking as it was very full inside.
This Chinese restaurant has been in Loughton for quite a few years now and it is clear why, as the staff are friendly, helpful and attentive, the atmosphere is brilliant with several families celebrating birthdays and having a really fun time but most importantly the food is very good and very reasonably priced.
The decor is very much typical of Chinese restaurants and includes a fish tank, which I am sure younger diners would really enjoy viewing.
It is warm, clean and friendly and the menu was huge but we went for an old favourite, the crispy aromatic duck, which was very nice and not too fatty and there was plenty of it.
We then ordered crispy shredded beef with chilli, sizzling king prawns in black bean sauce and a simple rice and Singapore noodles to go with it.
The food was delicious. The beef was full of flavour with just the right amount of chilli.
The sizzling king prawn dish was full of prawns and again had a great flavour.
As I often find with Chinese restaurants there is often too much food and we certainly didn't get short changed on the food front here.
We had no room for dessert but they had a very nice dessert menu.
I had a glass of red wine and I would recommend that you have something a bit better than the house red which rather spoiled an otherwise really good night out.
The whole bill for two came to £35.20 which I think is outstanding value for a very good meal in a restaurant with a great atmosphere.
If you have children and are thinking of taking them then I don't think you can beat Wo-Fat.
