Satirical musical Oh What A Lovely War is set to return to Theatre Royal Stratford East next year – half a century after it first premiered there. Tickets are now on sale for the Joan Littlewood musical about World War One, which will also coincide with the 100th anniversary of the conflict.
The production is a comment against war in general, and it was originally adapted by Joan from Charles Chilton’s work for radio.
An immediate hit, it transferred to the West End in June 1963, opening on Broadway in 1964 and receiving four Tony Award nominations including Best Musical.
The production will run at Theatre Royal Stratford East next year, from February 1 to March 15, 2014. l Details: 020 8534 0310 or www.stratfordeast.com
