The Open East Festival celebrates the one-year anniversary of the Olympic Games ceremony hosted in London, and will prove to be an extravaganza of amusement, art and big name acts.


The musical acts presented include many internationally recognised stars, representing all types of musical genres are catered for.
 

The Main Music and Caught by the River stages will be graced by the likes of The Waterboys and the two-piece American hip hop outfit Dead Prez.
 

For those interested in the arts, the Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller will showcase his Sacriledge, a life-sized inflatable replica of the British monument Stonehenge which doubles as a bouncy castle. Other activities to entertain younger visitors include a Graeae’s production of the classic Ted Hughes story The Iron Man, and a Travelling Art Circus, which is presented by London based children’s arts charity The House of Fairy Tales.
 

Food and drink will also be a big part of the event, with top chefs demonstrating London’s gastronomic flair, stalls presenting unique tastes of diverse cultures and The Ten Mile Beer Festival, featuring local beers from breweries such as Crate Brewery based in Hackney.
 

The Open East Festival at The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park shapes up to be an event to amuse and absorb the whole family.
