Walthamstow’s celebrity ceramicist Grayson Perry is appearing at the National Portrait Gallery, alongside a host of famous faces.
The 53-year-old is sitting with artist Damien Hirst, actor Kevin Spacey and model Erin O’Connor, among others.
But this is not a superstar dinner or show honouring Grayson.
Rather, he’s appearing in an exhibition by portrait painter Jonathan Yeo.
Entitled Jonathan Yeo Portraits, the exhibition is the National Portrait Gallery’s first display dedicated to the artist’s work and will include innovative portraits, all produced from life, some of which have never been shown before.
The images include some of today’s leading cultural, media and political figures, from media mogul Rupert Murdoch to actress Sienna Miller, and the display will present an overview of the artist’s work to date.
Among the paintings displayed is the first painted portrait of Malala Yousafzai, education activist. Measuring just less than one metre in height, the portrait is larger than life-size, and shows the young campaigner, now 16 years old, doing her homework.
l Jonathan Yeo Portraits is at the National Portrait Gallery, St Martin’s Place, London, until January 5, 2014
