After having the time of her life at the ballet performance of The Snowman prior to Christmas, what better way to round-off our daughter’s festive season than with a fantastic muddy puddle full of fun with Peppa Pig and her friends?

Let’s make no excuses, unlike The Snowman which we had seen just weeks previously, Peppa Pig’s Big Splash was not one to provide entertainment for both young and old.

But who cares? Christmas is, of course, all about the kids, and Peppa and her friends, including human buddy Daisy, played by the superb Emma Grace Arends, kept them enthralled for the duration.

There’s little plot, but we weren’t going to the theatre to see The Mousetrap, we were there to find out something far more exciting – whether Daddy Pig or the road digging Mr Bull would be champion puddle jumper.

For those of you interested, the nursery roof is leaking and Peppa and her friends need to fix it quickly. They set up a fete to raise the money for Mr Bull to do the repairs.

There’s plenty of fun to be had as Peppa, George, Mummy and Daddy Pig, as well as Danny Dog, Pedro Pony and Suzy Sheep put up bunting, run stalls and organise a great day out. T

There's also the champion puddle jumping competition judged by Mr Potato where everyone gets wet and Peppa needs to find her golden boots.

The differences to the TV show, such as the characters being operated as puppets and including humans as part of Peppa’s gang, worked superbly on the stage of the beautifully intimate Criterion Theatre in Piccadilly Circus, making this a memorable way to end the celebrations.

Sadly the show is now over, but a new Peppa Pig show will be announced shortly following its huge success, as will shows for the equally popular Octonauts and Ben and Holly.
