Hotpants at the ready! V Festival 2015 marks 20 years since the live music event first opened its gates and organisers have lined-up global platinum-selling DJ Calvin Harris and Leicester rockers Kasabian to headline the main stage.

Former Bishop's Stortford schoolboy Sam Smith, who now lives in east London will also perform, as will Brit Award-winning Hackney artist Paloma Faith, Muswell Hill's Clean Bandit and Ella Eyre, who went to school in north London.

Music lovers heading to Hylands Park in Chelmsford will also get the chance to see Ellie Goulding, The Script, Hozier, George Ezra, Stereophonics, James Bay, Olly Murs, Chvrches, Imelda May, Kodaline, Ella Henderson and Nero, as well as many more left to be announced across four stages at the event.

Festival director Simon Moran said: "We wanted to champion British talent at this year’s festival and with the likes of Calvin and Kasabian leading the way we don’t think it’ll disappoint. The eclectic mix of established artists and rising stars, with a few more in the pipeline, means that once again there is something for everyone at V Festival.

"It’s incredible to think what V has achieved in two decades. When we started out in ‘96, we were two stages and one tent, with the northern site only hosting one day of acts. Since then we’ve hosted some of the most iconic acts from around the world. Here’s to another decade."

Over the festival weekend, which also runs at Weston Park in Staffordshire, there will also be sets from The Courteneers, Marina & The Diamonds, The Proclaimers, Jess Glynne, Andy C, The Kooks, Gregory Porter, Fuse ODG, Duke Dumont, Jessie Ware, Hannah Wants and Grandmaster Flash.

Calvin Harris said: "V Festival is always an incredible time and I can't wait to headline it this year. See you there."

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday, March 6.
