They say love lifts you up, but Amy and Bujar Kakeli went higher than most for their wedding day.

Last Saturday (March 21) the South Ockendon couple became the first to tie-the-knot at the top of the ArcelorMittal Orbit – the eye-catching red structure in the Olympic Park.

They said “I do” in the observation deck of the 114.5 metre tower, which had been transformed into a beautiful wedding venue, and then partied the night away with almost 90 guests.

Amy, a former pupil of Elm Park Primary School and Abbs Cross Academy in Hornchurch, met Bujar, a former pupil of The Sydney Russell School in Dagenham, through friends and they got engaged in August.

Amy, 24, says: “I just fell in love with the venue when I went to see another event there and I didn’t even know at the time they did weddings there.

“It's a big privilege to be the first and all our guests were really impressed. It was an amazing day.”
