Young actor Razak Osman from Leytonstone will get to tread the boards at the world-famous Shakespeare’s Globe this weekend.
The 22-year-old is one of just 42 students chosen to perform on the stage on Sunday (March 29) as part of the Sam Wanamaker Festival, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary.
Razak, a former pupil of Cann Hall Primary School (now Buxton Primary School), George Mitchell Secondary School and Leyton Sixth Form College is now a third year student at Arts Educational Schools London and will undergo an intensive weekend of training with Globe Education professionals, before performing a scene from Othello.
He says: “I decided to become an actor after seeing Charles Edwards play Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing at the Globe in 2011. I was determined one day to perform on that stage too. This opportunity is truly a dream come true, and a pretty big deal!”
The festival is presented in association with Drama UK and previous participants include Gemma Arterton, Andrew Garfield and Michelle Dockery.
