Having built an impressive reputation as one of the world’s most exciting celebrations of Latin music, La Linea has yet again secured a top-notch bill featuring everything from salsa to tango to jazz to Brazilian hip hop.
Karol Conka
East London highlights include performances from Karol Conka, a feistier equivalent to Azaelia Banks (hard to imagine, I know) and LA-based Guatemalan singer and Latin Grammy award-winner Gaby Moreno, who produces soul, jazz-pop and more traditional Latin sounds.
There’s also a multi-cultural musical extravaganza courtesy of Anglo-Bangladeshi pianist Kishon Khan who fronts Lokkhi Terra. They’ve teamed up with Afrobeat musician Sosimi – formerly of Fela Kuti’s Egypt 80 – to reveal new material due for a collaborative release as CubAfrobeat later this year.
Marinah
Then there’s Marinah, leader of Ojos De Brujo, a cult hip hop-meets-flamenco band from Barcelona, who will play solo in the UK for the first time. Silky voice, gorgeous jazz-pop songs, and a fabulously wacky sense of style.
Various locations in London from Thursday, April 3. Details: comono.co.uk/la-linea
