The Wanstead Fringe festival is looking for bands and musicians to join their ranks.
The event will take place across venues in Wanstead, between September 6 and 13.
Music organiser Alistair McQueen, 35, says: “It’s just Wanstead people organising their own events at the right time.”
“If you have an idea, we’d like to hear about it, help you put it on and organise it.”
Alistair, who has worked as a music journalist and has played guitar since he was 12, says:
“Wanstead is rapidly developing a great pool of local musicians as people move to the area from places like Hackney, London Fields and Walthamstow.”
He tips Georgia & The Dales as “definitely ones to watch”, after the folk five-piece played the festival in Wanstead Park on July 19.
“Festivals like this are massively important for our local community. They foster a community spirit, which Wanstead already has, and allows people young and old to display their creativity.”
The Fringe has returned for its second year by popular demand. It is funded through local donations and ticket sales but organisers are working on securing advertising.
Performers wanting to take part should contact Alistair via Twitter @AliMacQueen or info@wansteadfringe.org
