The Forge hosts jazz in the garden

The Forge features a vertical garden The Forge features a vertical garden

Step in off the busy streets of Camden and enjoy a calmer environment when The Forge hosts some live lunchtime music in its garden, next week.

However, this is no ordinary garden - various spaces inside the venue have been transformed into indoor oases, and for one day only, you can drop in for food, drink and live music in a special pop-up event.

You can enjoy a picnic that the weather can't spoil in the glass courtyard beneath a vertical garden, designed by Katharine Bradburn and featuring from floor to ceiling a multitude of plants and herbs. There will even be birdsong piped throughout the garden.

Then walk through a grove of real lemon trees into the Sicilian Secret Garden and listen to live jazz on stage from 12-2pm, and enjoy a spot of lunch, cooked up by Vito Fanara, head chef at the adjoining Caponata restaurant.

The venue, a former blacksmith's workshop, has been developed with a number of environmentally-friendly features, including natural ventilation, solar panels and sustainable features.

The event takes place on Wednesday, September 7, 9am – 4pm, at The Forge, 3–7 Delancey Street, Camden Town. Further information: 020 7383 7808, www.forgevenue.org
