Dick Whittington, currently being staged at the Queen's Theatre in Hornchurch, is a triumph. Directed by Bob Carlton, it has all the staples of any true pantomime, but with a modern twist. Part of the panto is even in 3D which is amazing.
It has everything you want from a pantomime - fantastic sets and costumes, great cast with songs and jokes galore (plus of course sweets thrown into the audience).
I have been to quite a few Queen's pantos and I think this has been the best so far. Simon Jessop as Sarah the Cook was hilarious and King Rat - whilst the bad guy - wasn't as scarey as some panto villains have been in the past, so was better for younger members of the audience.
All in all a great performance enjoyed by both young and old alike.
