A WOMAN found in the toilets in the local hospital outpatients department is believed to have died of a stab wound.

The body was found on Wednesday at 9am in Whipps Cross University Hospital.

Police closed the department reception for the day while forensic officers and the murder squad searched the scene and evaluated the evidence.

As a result, they came to the conclusion that the death was "not suspicious" and not the result of an attack.

A post-mortem was held on Friday at Walthamstow mortuary and it is expected that an inquest will open next week.

The Guardian understands that the woman was a patient or client of the Woodbury unit for mental health patients in the hospital grounds.
