AN ASPIRING young actor is to have his big break in tonight's episode of hit TV show Doctor Who.

Daniel King, 24, is a familiar face to pub goers in the South Woodford George where he works as a barman, but this evening over six million people will watch him on the BBC sci-fi programme battling giant space wasps alongside David Tennant and Catherine Tate.

Mr King, who lives on the High Road in South Woodford, plays the role of a wisecracking cheeky butler called Davenport who bumps into the time-travelling doctor on his adventures in 1920s England.

Mr King has been working hard to land a high-profile acting role since he graduated from East 15 Acting School in Loughton, and is thrilled that he has finally managed to get his big break.

"It's really cool. My agent managed to get me the part - I've been auditioning for shows like Coronation Street and Waterloo Road so it was really great to get this" he said.

"The episode is all about Agatha Christie and how she went missing for 10 days in 1926.

"It's all about what happened to her - did she get lost or was there something more sinister."

For more, see the next edition of The Guardian out Thursday May 22.

The Unicorn and the Wasp' is on tonight (Saturday May 17) at 7pm on BBC1.
