By Charlie Campbell »

A MYSTERIOUS craft spotted in the sky over Wanstead and Woodford has sparked UFO fever amongst shocked residents.

Five strange lights were spotted hovering over Charlie Brown's roundabout in Woodford Green, which suddenly went out one-by-one as a dark object descended to earth.

Bradley Gross, of Baddow Close, Woodford Green, was outside his home saying goodbye to some friends with his partner Cheri and 15-year-old daughter Natasha at 11.55pm on Saturday night when they saw the UFO.

The 32-year-old paint shop worker said: "It still gives me the shivers even thinking about it now. It was really freaky-looking and we saw these bright spots and then this thing slowly come down diagonally to earth.

"Without a doubt it was something odd and it could not have been a plane or a balloon as it was not moving at all and had these bright lights.

"It totally freaked my daughter out and she couldn't sleep. It could well have been something to do with UFOs as I believe we can't be the only living things in the universe."

"I stood out there at midnight the following night to see if I could catch it again but couldn't see anything."

Strange beings have apparently attempted to make contact after a hostile alien craft' was seen near Winston Churchill's statue on the Green, Woodford Green, in February, prompting the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to issue an appeal for calm. And when secret Government files were opened last month, many stories emerged such as the tale of two little boys who were terrified back in 1970 when they saw a pair of strange lights in the skies over Wanstead.

More recently, accounts cover a variety of strange sights, including one man who spotted two "giant sparklers" hovering in the skies of Woodford Green back in February, 2001.

London UFO studies group chairman Roy Lake said north-east London was notorious for UFO activity.

He added: "A lot of times these are Chinese lanterns which float up very high but from the description that must be ruled out so it's definitely an unexplained sighting.

"But there's nothing much to go on and we need more information. There's certainly been contact made with aliens as after 50 years investigating these things and talking to lots of people including airline pilots I'm left in no doubt."

A spokeswoman for the MoD played down the possibility of an alien craft.

She said: "We examine reports solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity.

"Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported."

I don't think airline piolts, plus the many air force and police personal who witness these things are allowed to drink ale, strong or otherwise. Wake up, you jeering sceptics. If even 5% of 7,ooo sightings are still unexplained, that's a lot of 'visitors'.

I lived in the area in the mid to late seventies and experienced similar sightings many times.
Can't say that I believe in alien visitation, but for some reason, Walthamstow is a magnet for this kind of thing. Keep watching the skies.

it takes a very foolish/naive/arroga
nt attitude to dismiss alien life so easily. Which are you?

Or perhaps you have ulterior motives for being so sceptical?

Or perhaps the sceptics are merely there to ease the public fears while still allowing other open minded individuals to seek the truth for themselves, with each wave of disclosure that hints at the truth....

After all, the public's "fears" are not warranted in the first place. Were it not for the original military stance when it came to handling this kind of thing, media reports of UFOs would be met with calm and a growing willingness to communicate with our friends in the skies.

tony, london says...

5% of 7,000 sighting are 350 sighting. We can think that there are some ale drinkers in this figure.

Do the math: 150 pis..d drunkard + 150 drug addicts in high + 50 naives and imaginative skizos (like you?) = 350 sightings.

A stronger myth than UFO's is that alcohol could cause that kind of hallucinations. There is a vague association WITH drink but it is about the LACK of it! Suddenly cutting off after long abuse causes the the DT's. Hallucination of small black spots often interpreted as bugs or bats. That goes with the skin crawling sensations and can be terrifying. But lights in the sky or alien beings? Nope... associating that with alcohol is a dim attempt to pit one myth vs. the another. If you can't stand it that someone is brave enough to try to tell others what they saw, then at least keep your fears to yourself. Will the stupid hackneyed nonsense about alcohol hallucinations please stop now?

Allen, USA says...
10:46pm Tue 10 Jun 08

That said... lights in the dark sky are most likely lanterns. If orange most likely from a celebration or dry-cleaning bags with candles. Or the lights are from airplanes, or bright lights (car headlights) from someplace else but in a temperature layer in the atmosphere. If you see something more than 'a light' that could be important and interesting. But, a light in the sky... can't make much of that, sorry.

tony, london says...
10:57pm Tue 10 Jun 08

Interesting but you belittle the compund of alcoolism and stupidity. I assure you that i have witnessed that kind of drunkard sometimes, and it's impressing.
BTW, hallucinations can occur in a variety of conditions and persons. Deranged and intoxicated persons are really subject to this; check psychiatrists...

I hope alien visitation becomes a serious mainstream subject for discussion within my lifetime.

We visit other planets, and the deep seas (to study the creatures)... we do it for entertainment, education and curiosity. Why wouldn't creatures from other worlds visit us for the same reasons?

It's the next phase of the false flag 'alien invasion' agenda. From commies to Al-Qaeda to Aliens from out there. You see you don't really have any enemies so they have to keep inventing them to justify all the military spending and withdrawal of civil liberties.

The biggest flaw on this discussion is to assume that the 5% unexplained sightings are those explained by alcohol or craziness. It's an absurd contradictory statement as it can't both be unexplained and then easily dismissed by taking a wild guess as you people are trying to do. Don't you think that the government analysts who do this for a living take into account the witness propensity to misrepresent or exaggerate facts when they come up with the 95% figure? It's in THEIR interest to try to dismiss as many sightings as possible. Don't you think that drunkenness figures at the top of their list when looking for an explanation? How does anybody have the arrogance to think that they can explain something that they have absolutely *no* first or second hand experience about? You can have a hunch about it if it helps you sleep better. But you don't know, because you couldn't possibly know, you weren't there. Somebody better informed than you has already has looked into it. The choice is simple: Unless you are rather attached to your beliefs, it can't hurt to get informed.

Maybe, but it's more likely the elite with their new technology. Then terrorizing the local town does make sense, thats what they do.

Go to www(dot)nsa(dot)gov and find the FOIA section. Look for UFOs. Read Lambros Callimahos' "UFO Hypothesis and Survival Questions" and save a copy to pass around.

To all you new agers who are so anxious to have an "experience" with wonderful alien brothers... remember, if they really show up, WE are the abos, the American Indians, the ones on the short end of the technological stick.

Read "Guns Germs and Steel."

Look up the questions that I asked of the NSA in my 1992 FOIA suit and their answers (at least some of them). Put "Olsen vs. NSA" into a search engine.

Have fun.

I didn't believe in UFO's (the beyond this worl kind) until my sister recalled seeing a ball of light hovering above her home one morning. It was in and of itself or there wasn't any beams of light from a source or anything She watched and said it was really strange and abnormal but didn't scare her. It bounced around a little and then shot off into the sky. I would be more out to lie or hallucinate than she would so I believe she did see a beyond this World UFO

Don't spend any time trying to convince skeptics. The UFO visitors regard them as flotsam, they are not interested in interacting with skeptics who have closed minds that are not open to wonder & spirituality with the universes. Let the skeptics live out their sad, rational little lives. They are genetically limited and should be regarded with pity.

openingminds@hush.co m, London says...
10:40am Wed 11 Jun 08

@ Fred Milton Olsen, your fears are unjustified and based on attitudes of the era that the document was written in! (1968?) There is no justification for basing their intentions on the history of human race, for we are a flawed uneducated race that still considers money and power as important, usually in the name of religion.

They are far beyond this, and do not have a need to terrorise or exploit us. They come in peace and only seek to encourage us to develop and focus the human race to a point where we have no more war, no more famine, no more poverty and no nuclear weapons.

If they really had ulterior motives they would already have made contact and begun exploiting us, but they have held back, and are waiting for the human mind to become aware and conscious and open, and willing to accept them without fear.

This day will happen, but not before a dreadful natural disaster wipes us a large number of people. The only good that comes of that event is that as a human race, we will pull together as one, and therefore herald the next step in our evolution. That is when our off-world friends will know we are ready to communicate.

It is no surprise that there are now more and more UFO related stories in the media these days, from the Catholic Church accepting their might be Aliens out there, to the UFO disclosure from the UK government, to the number of discussions that are becoming more and more frequent on this kind of thing - The truth is that we ARE becoming more open to contact! :)

And really if the ale there is causing people to halucinate, then where are all of the tourists from the USA who would come over for a trippy buzz? People from the USA go to Amsterdam all the time for that very reason. Just be happy & blessed if you are lucky enough to see one. Don't try to convince the skeptics, it's a waste of time.

"There are greater things than heaven and earth than are known to us in our philosophy, Horatio" -Shakespeare(Athena was a 'spear shaker' who shook her spear at 'ignorance') Anyway, of course there are 'celestial beings', who have been concerned with our evolution for aeons, nothing new. What is fairly new, are the attempts by military reverse engineering 'downed' ships and now make their own ships underground(black projects). Every once in a while they have to take them out 'for a spin' to see how they operate. I would say many of these ships may be 'terrestrial' ships being tested out.

Kim Sodders, Ohio U.S. says...

I have been to Utube and some info is accurate. But try going to projectcamelot.com there are hundreds of credible videos, and documentarys, on all current events, that local or national or world news networks, are forced or told or threatened not to disclose to the public. Seek the truth and you shall find. Good luck in your search.

Anisha, Minnesota, USA says...
7:51pm Wed 11 Jun 08

I believe there are 'differences' between 'our' ships and 'extra-terrestrial' ships. Our ships tend to to be 'intimidating', while true celestials are respectful and try never to 'interfere' with us. They will interact only with those 'who do not fear them'. They would never hurt us. But the covert terrestrial ones are devious and have hurt many with their experiments while blaming their acts on 'UFOs' so we will feel negative towards them. Google 'Disclosure Project' and 'CSETI' with Dr. Stephen Greer. He has accumulated over 500 witnesses from military intelligence on DVD and reported in his books. Though I remain skeptical about Dr. Greer's 'intent', I feel most of what he reports is probably the truth. I think you will be impressed with the level of disclosure here. He has been trying to get Congressional oversight of 'free energy' devices and machinery. Imagine no fossil fuels, no poverty, desalination of water for all with 'free energy'. Right now all these things are in the hands of the elite bankers who run our entire world and keep us all distracted slaves. This will have to change. The 'New World Order' have attempted to co-opt the true 'New Order of the Ages' which means an end to control of others and a time of individual 'self government' as each of us lives within God's 'Divine Law'. Apparently there are rifts within these elite groups and its just a matter of time before they and their control systems fall apart.

Patrick Sullivan, Des Moines says...

The UFO community abounds with dis-information wing-nuts. I suspect many ufos can be explained as high tech military aircraft developed from alien technology, some are that of ETs and the rest may be the usual explanations. In any event, why would powers of LIGHT and LIFE put all their life on one planet? Have you ever weeded a garden? Life exist everywhere there is a niche. We've been visited by ET for eons. Only in our time the authoritarian elite would suppress this inf. to keep a tight grip on their slaves. I'd wouldn't be surprised if the earthly powers don't one day use a mass UFO display to "fake" the population into submission. IF and when it happens, pay close attention and don't loss it.
Only the day they land and greet us in person will the masses believe. I have great hope for humanity in the future just don't get lost in deception.

Please note that a number of western governments have recently opened many of their UFO files, that the Vatican has given its blessing to the divine creatures aliens surely must be, and that many scientists and military folks silenced for decades are making astonishing deathbed confessions about the reality and presence of inhabitants from space. If I am "jumping" to my conclusion about the presence of people from space, may all my conclusions be so well founded. If the Drake equation is even a little bit correct, then Earth must be either a sanctuary or a quarantined planet. To the nay-sayers I would pose the issue/question this way: Take a reasonable allotment of time and imagine you have discovered an "Earth". Being technologically advanced, how does one proceed? What are the likely strategies one will employ to gain some understanding of this place and its inhabitants? How will your actions manifest themselves? As you arrive at your very intelligent answers, you will discover that the UFO phenomenon continues to play itself out in a fairly predictable and conservative way. To be a "nay-sayer" is to bury one's head deeply in the sand. To suggest the Earth is unknown or uninteresting to others from space is, frankly, pathetic. The Earth, as far as you're concerned, is better off being as it had been for eons- flat.

I'm not one for this sort of thing, but having seen the board outside the newsagents, I decided to come on here and see the story. This is because on Monday night, I went to bed and as I looked out of the window saw 5 or so rotating lights in the sky....We are having building work done and so have no curtains up at the windows...After a while of laying there watching them and realising there was not a lot of sequence to their movements, I dismissed them as being laser lights - but as there were no beams coming up from the ground and as the night was not clear and quite cloudy, the lights looked to be above the clouds. My Partner came in to the room and he too was trying to explain the lights by opening the window to listen for a helicopter or such...there was nothing. It was very strange. Maybe someone can put my mind at rest and tell me this was the result of laser lights from some event in the area?...We were laughing about it, but now having read all of this - I'm starting to wonder!!! Of course, we're still trying to explain it away as it sits easier in the conscience but who knows...

It has to be said, I think there's a prankster in the area as how come the sightings are always so late at night?...if this happened in rush hour during say November - the place would come to a standstill! I dunno who's doing it, but I am convinced someone is messing around with lasers and gets a better effect with a cloudy sky!
