WALTHAM Forest's favourite street warden has missed out on the Local Government Association Council Worker of the Year Award.

Guardian readers have been backing 44-year-old Frank Charles who, as well as working at the Wardens' office in Langthorne Park, Leytonstone, is a champion charity fundraiser and record-breaking stunt man.

Despite making it to the national finals of the 2008 awards, the coveted trophy was awarded to Pat Hagan, neighbourhood manager at Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council.

So sorry you did not win the award. But getting to the final is quite an achievement! Well done Frank! Keep up the good work! You are very much admired and respected for what you do for us!

Hard luck Frank.

Now that this distraction from their real work is over, can the rest of the managers and council officers involved in promoting you for this reward please get back to doing their jobs? We have serious crime and other problems in Waltham Forest which they need to focus their attentions on right now.
